The Initiative Provenienzforschung stärken! will offer a shared space at the annual conference to develop resilient structures and practical courses of action within provenance research. This workshop addresses the need for nationwide networking and strengthening within our field and across the broader fields of culture, scholarship, and remembrance, which are being attacked by the AfD and other right-wing actors. Two months after the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, prior to which the AfD’s election manifesto targeted provenance research and called for defunding the DZK, we will take stock. In small groups, participants will discuss: How can we better communicate our work and its relevance to civil society and political decision-makers? What forms of nationwide, cross-disciplinary networking are needed to respond effectively and in solidarity? Which existing initiatives, formats, and guidance materials can serve as models—and where are new, cooperative approaches needed?
