The virtual exhibition entitled »The Collection of Josef Pollák«

While the Documentation Centre published a catalogue of Pollák’s collection at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in 2023, the next step was to share the research findings with the public. The first section of the website recounts the history of a wealthy Jewish family before, during, and after the Holocaust. This section is based not only on archival documents, but also on the memories and photographs of the family’s descendants.

The second section focuses on the provenance research itself, including museum records and provenance marks on the objects. The focal point of the website is a small exhibition of twelve items from the Pollák collection housed in the Museum of Decorative Arts. This is the Documentation Centre’s first project of this kind, and the intention is to expand it to include other objects from the original collection. Eventually, the stories of other persecuted collectors during WWII will also be incorporated.
